Bad Things Come in Threes
Bad Things Come in Threes is a series of three books following the story from a pre-existing book from Paul Tremblay titled Disappearance at Devil’s Rock.

The concept “bad things come in threes” was established after reading Paul Tremblay’s book. The number three holds significance as the story revolves around three boys, one of whom disappears at a place known as Devil’s Rock. In the Bible, Jesus is tempted by the Devil three times. Moreover, the superstition surrounding this number suggests that death and accidents occur in threes, further inspiring the series.

The design of each book employs a striking red, sharp edges, and the image of a Devil’s silhouette. The usage of these elements is based on psychological studies, which suggest that such design choices can cause discomfort, anxiety, danger, and fear in viewers. These design choices were made to enhance the story’s emotional impact.

The first book in the series, Disappearance at Devil’s Rock, depicts the story of three boys who come across an unassuming perpetrator, ultimately befriending him. However, one of the boys falls prey to the man’s treacherous ways. The novel concludes with the reader pondering the killer’s fate and the two surviving boys.
Before He Finds Us, the second book portrays a scenario where the killer was never caught and is now after the remaining two boys. The story is narrated from the perspective of these boys, who struggle to evade the killer’s clutches.
See Me in Hell features the killer’s confessions, trials, and time spent in prison. The title was chosen as it relates to the killer’s self-proclaimed ability to see things before they happen, a trait he often called a ‘seer’ in the first book.
